316L stainless steel is a derivative of 18-8 austenitic stainless steel, and its chemical composition is added with 2 to 3% Mo element. On the basis of 316L austenitic stainless steel, a variety of steel grades are derived. For example, 316Ti is derived by adding a small amount of Ti, 316N is derived by adding a small amount of N, and 317L is derived by adding Ni and Mo.
Most of the existing 316L grade steel coils on the market are produced according to American standards. The American standard stipulates that the Ni content of ASTM 316L stainless steel is 10-14%, while the Japanese standard stipulates that the Ni content of 316L stainless steel is 12-15%. According to the minimum standard, the Ni content of the American standard and the Japanese standard are 2% different, and the price is also very different. Therefore, when purchasing 316L stainless steel coils, it is necessary to see whether it refers to ASTM standards or JIS standards.

Application:
316L stainless steel coil: ultra-low carbon steel for 316 stainless steel. 316L grade steel coil has good corrosion resistance to various inorganic acids, alkalis, and salts (such as sulfurous acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, acetic acid, formic acid, fluoride salts, sulfites, etc.).
316L austenitic stainless steel has many characteristics such as excellent work hardening, excellent high temperature strength, non-magnetism in solid solution state, good gloss of cold-rolled products, and beautiful appearance.
Due to the low carbon content, ASTM 316L stainless steel has good welding performance and is suitable for multi-layer welding. Generally, heat treatment is not required after welding, and there is no tendency of knife-edge corrosion after welding.
316L austenitic stainless steel coil can be used to manufacture synthetic fiber, petrochemical, textile, chemical fertilizer, printing and dyeing and atomic energy and other industrial equipment, such as towers, tanks, containers, pipes, etc.
