Characteristic:
304 stainless steel square tube:
304 stainless steel square tube is austenitic stainless steel, containing 9%-11% nickel and 18%-19% chromium. The former is resistant to organic acids, and the latter is resistant to corrosion in oxidizing environments and has excellent corrosion resistance.
304 ss square tubing has good ductility in the annealed state and is easy to stretch and form.
The hardness and strength of 304 square tube can be improved by cold working.
304 stainless steel square tubing can be welded by fusion welding and resistance welding. However, if water corrosion resistance is considered, it is not recommended to use 304 steel for a long time in the range of 426°C to 860°C.
Note: Cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
304L stainless steel square tube:
304L stainless steel is a 300 series austenitic stainless steel with carbon content reduced to 0.030% on the basis of 304 stainless steel, so it exhibits a lower corrosion rate than 304. But in most corrosive environments, the corrosion resistance of 304L square tubing is the same as that of 304.
304L square tube has superior intergranular corrosion resistance and excellent welding performance. It does not require post weld annealing. Therefore, it is preferably used in environments where intergranular corrosion is prone to occur in welds and heat-affected zones of sensitive alloys. If you care about welding quality, it is recommended to choose 304L instead of 304.
304L stainless steel square tube has better heat resistance and is more resistant to carbide precipitation. It can be heated to a temperature range of 1148°C to 1260°C during forging.
The processing performance of 304L square is the same as that of 304 ss square tubing, and it can be stretched and formed. However, in order to eliminate the stress generated during processing, it should be annealed or stress relieved as soon as possible after processing.
Application:
304 304L stainless steel square tube is a hollow long strip of steel, because the cross section is square, so it is called square tube. A large number of pipes are used to transport fluids, such as oil, natural gas, water, gas, steam, etc. In addition, when the bending and torsional strengths are the same, they are lighter in weight, so they are also widely used in the manufacture of mechanical parts and engineering structures.
